Yes, if you are either ISO 9001 accredited or looking to become ISO 9001 accredited. Having said this the document doesn't need to be long winded or even in the form of a procedure. It can take any visual representation as long as it shows how your system is connected.


Simple. Use a flat structure that categorises your documents by type. For example, Procedures, Forms, Checklists, Registers etc. This structure with a good naming convention applied will give you a system that is easy to use. 


A naming convention is what gives document systems structure along with the document type. It is simply a way to create a cohesive way to manage documents. For example, an audit procedure might look like the following:PRO-Q001 Auditing. The way that numbering is applied can be flexible. For example, if your company acronym is SC, you could have PRO-SC001. Procedure SC 001.
